Abstract

The Miracle Worker” movie is a good movie that appropriate to be inspected. This movie has wonderful story because the film was nominated for five Academy awards, including best Director for Arthur Penn. “The miracle Worker” also holds a perfect 100% score from the movie critics site Rotten Tomatoes. Data source in this research will be got from two source that from documentation and movie script in “The Miracle Worker”. The researcher will get some information or data based on watching the movie, made and match the script, and identified the script. The purpose of this research are with the Function of language (directive function) can help the reader on analyses of the film. In the “Miracle Worker” movie The researcher found directive function, in the directive function the researcher divided into two section, are : instruction and restriction. So, the reader can know the means about directive function on function of language

Abstract

The aims of this research is to find out the kinds  and the meanings of high context culture in sanam teri kasaam movie, to give understanding about culture in india and culture that include into high context culture through movie. Movie is also called a film. Movie can be done well during the shooting. And the point of view of this research is for communication, it means that we will know the other culture,  we haven’t to come to that country directly but with this research we can know the culture in that country.This research observed all the characters and have found four parts of high context culture . From the characters of sanam teri kassam movie, those are Body language (Kinesics) which include gesture, facial expression, and dress. Second is eye contact (Oculistics), Then Touch (Haptics) and the last is Body distance (proxemics). So that, High context culture is a large part of the meanings lies in the physical context. As a result, the message itself carries less information.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to know whether English song can improve the students’ vocabulary at fifth Grade of  SDN Tanjung I Pademawu. The result of the data analysis proved that the value of t-test (tobs is 8,742 and ttable is 2,021). It means that tobs is higher than ttable(8,742>2,021). Based on the criteria for testing hypothesis was if the value of t obtained is higher than t table at significant level 0,05 the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and hypothesis alternative (HI) is accepted. The researcher came to conclusion that “there was significant Influence of English Song Toward Students’ Vocabulary Mastery and students’ motivation at the fifth Grade of  SDN Tanjung I Pademawu.

Abstract

As bilingual speakers the English lecturers give explanation and instruction by using their languages freely. They tend to switch code as well as mix code between two languages (Indonesian-English or vice versa) in order to create an effective strategy of communication in the classroom. This study described the forms of code switching applied in clause, tag, filler, interjection, and the forms of code mixing applied in word and phrase through Fasold and Holmes’ theory. The implementation of them was based on the position (as translation and without translation).

Abstract

Grammar means a lesson about principles on creating and clustering words into sentences. So that, grammar is very important for people who wants conquering words in English well, because it can guide us to cluster words and sentences correctly. As EFL students almost most of them difficult to mastery English grammar, they found it difficult when they have to use it in their practices. The most difficult part is the verb changing is rather annoying to use. This research aim’s to investigate the implementation of clock as media in teaching grammar in Madura University. It employs a qualitative design. The data of the research were collected through observation, interview and documentation with the descriptive approach. This study focuses on how the clock is applied as a learning media on changes of verbs form, especially irregular verbs. This research was conducted in English Education department of Madura University. Research subjects are students who take Structure class academic Year 2018/2019 Class A. From the data there are 53.3% of students give positive respond toward the implementations of clock as media in teaching grammar especially in changes of verb form. It help them to memorize the irregular verbs.

Abstract

In this study there are two problems of study. The first is Is there any effect of Word Search Puzzle Game in teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade students of SDN Kolpajung II. The second how significant is the use of Word Search Puzzle Game gives effect in the teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade students of SDN Kolpajung II.The population of this research is all of students at the sixth grade of SDN  Kolpajung II. While the sample of this research is the sixth grade students of  SDN Kolpajung II. There are 29 students of sixth grade at SDN Kolpajung II. In this research uses quantitative approach, while research design that is used in this research is pre-experimental. Research instruments that used in this study are test and documentation. Test is used to measure students vocabulary. While documentation is used to support and complete the data such as lesson plan, pre-test and post-test scores, photo, etc. The result of this research is there was significance effect of Word Search Puzzle Game in teaching vocabulary to the sixth grade student at SDN Kolpajung II because the t-value was higher than t-table in significance alpha 5% The score of t-value in this research was 2,05 and the score of t-table was 10.865 in level significance 5% with degree of freedom 28  ( 10.865>2,05  ). From these results, it is suggested to the English teachers to use an appropriate technique in teaching English especially in teaching vocabulary, in this case using Word Search Puzzle Game since Word Search Puzzle Game was gave positive effect in teaching vocabulary. It is also expected for further researchers to continue this research on the other vocabulary items.
